A fun filled weekend

Friday night Brian and I were off to the Boilermaker Ball and Paige spent her 1st night away from mommy and daddy in the comfort of Mimi and Grandpa's house. We had a wonderful time and Paige did great at my parents. Brian and I were invited to attend the ball with a few others from his company so we danced the night away with his colleagues The ball is a fundraising event for the Purdue Alumni Association held at the Indiana Roof Ballroom which is beautiful place to spend an evening and they sure know how the make you feel like royalty. Here are a few pictures...the theme was Latin Flair. For those of you interested in my dress, we only have one full length picture and that was taken at the event with Purdue Pete so we only have a hard copy (I'll try to get it scanned in and added).

they passed out hats for the guys and fans for the ladies at the door

Oh no they didn't...
everyone had their senior yearbook picture scrolled across the big screen during dinner

Unfortunately we weren't able to sleep in and take advantage of the morning off.  We had to set the alarm clock so we could get Paige and make it to the YMCA for our first swimming class. She had been in the pool once before and seemed to like it so we were excited. She did pretty well in the water...no tears and a few laughs. However, she was the only baby shivering like crazy so we decided to get out early and warm up. She was curled up in a little ball trying to stay warm which made it hard to relax and enjoy the water. she did lay back and get both of her ears in the water without crying which is supposedly a really good sign.

Saturday afternoon Paige had her 1st birthday party to attend. She loved all of the activity and spending time with her friends.

Visiting Aunt Betsy in Florida

Last weekend we (Brian, Paige, mom and I) flew down to Clearwater to visit my sister. We arrived at the Tampa airport just before 3 on Thursday. Paige did great on the flight. It was time for a bottle as we were boarding the plane so she was pretty fussy until we got that taken care of.

Thursday night we had dinner at a place on the beach and watched Betsy play indoor soccer. Paige was a big fan of all of the action. Mom and I never thought we would be watching Betsy play soccer again...ha.

Slumber Party!

Friday we went to lunch at a Greek place in Tarpon springs which is an area famous for harvesting sponges. we spent the afternoon shopping and enjoying the sunny but chilly day.

Satruday Betsy headed off to urgent care to be diagnosed with Strep throat so we left her at home to sleep and the rest of us headed back to Clearwater beach to check out the excitment at the peir and sunset.

Sunday the sun was shinning, Betsy was feeling better and the temeprature was on the rise...only the mid 60's but that was enough for us. We spent the afternoon at the beach. It was a bit windy so we rented one of those fancy tent things to block the wind and provide some shade for Paige. It was perfect! We had a little picnic while we were there which was topped of by mom getting attack by a sea gull. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen. One swooped down and attempted to peck a cracker out of her hand and then they were all flying right at us. Betsy scared them off.  Paige, on the other hand, was a big fan of the birds.
I love glasses

Monday (Valentine's Day) morning was spent with mom at the pool, Betsy and I shopping, and Brian spending time with Paige. We made it back to Indy without a single cry from Paige.

6 Month photos

Yes I realize she is 7 and 1/2 months old but better late than never. Here are a few of our favorites!

7 months

She is so interested in everything! It's great to watch her take the world in but it's not so great trying to get her to stop and take a nap. She's sitting pretty well however, we our not leaving her side as she is still a little shaky and can fall pretty hard at times. She's eating "about"  2 meals a day of baby food and 4 or 5 bottles. I say "about" because she is often too tired, too hungry, or not hungry enough. We are having some trouble getting the timing just right but when we do get it right which is more often than not she eats really well.  She is also chewing on everything...including her toes

Snow and Ice

We finally decided with the 30 degree temperature and the 5 inches of snow we got yesterday (on top of our 3in ice) that it was a good day to get Paige out in the snow for the first time. We aren't sure how she felt about the experience but we did have a few smiles and no tears. We went sledding down the drive way and daddy pulled us around the cul-de-sac! She was too cute in her pink Winnie the Pooh snowsuit :)

Here are some pictures from our week of winter weather.

The 1st half inch or so of ice on Tuesday

Attempting to chip away the ice today. We put salt down before the storm but that did us no good. Between the two of us over the course of the last few days we have been to at least 10 stores looking for more salt but everyone is sold out. We did get some sand down on Friday and that helped with traction but as you can see we still have the ice to deal with. If you are wondering...I gave up pretty quickly so this is pretty much what our driveway still looks like.

the 3 inch ice block under all of our snow

I found Brian's hand print in the driveway as I was shoveling. Poor guy fell 3 times in the time we were out with Paige but don't worry he is fine. 5 inches of snow doesn't provide much traction on top of the 3 inches of ice. I don't think he will be wearing his winter work boots out when there is ice on the ground ever again.
